Karthi Govender

Director Africa

Karthi joined JMJ in 2006 and has 25 years of industry experience. He oversees and manages all aspects of JMJ’s work in Africa. Prior to joining the firm, Karthi was founder and CEO of Team Dynamix cc, and chairman of EAP Direct (Pty) Ltd, both being human resources and organizational development companies. He was director of operations at the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD), and is currently a senior associate. Karthi is a conflict management and strategy design expert, having worked with a range of parties, including Inter Alia; senior Sri Lakan parliamentarians involved in negotiations with the Tamil tigers, with Sir Ketumile Masire and his team, facilitators of the inter-Congolese dialogue, negotiators and constitutional commissioners in East Timor, and with rebel groups involved in the cease-fire negotiations in Burundi.

Karthi holds a B.A. LLB degree from the University of Durban Westville and LLM (cum laude) degree from Georgetown Law School.
