Sandra Purucker and Michael Levin from JMJ attended the 2025 Datacloud Global Congress in Cannes, where over 4,500 data center leaders gathered to discuss how AI, sustainability, and regional expansion are shaping the future of data centers and high-performance infrastructure.
The event drew a strong C-suite presence from the larger tech firms like Google, Microsoft, and NTT, alongside Tier 1 and 2 contractors including Arcadis, PM Group, Winthrop, Exyte, Mercury, E-On, and TotalEnergies. Conversations highlighted that AI-driven demand could account for up to 75% of data center growth by 2030, making it a key driver of industry transformation.
Geographically, the U.S. remains the largest and most mature market, while Europe is the fastest-growing region, driven by AI adoption and ESG goals, though expansion there continues to face regulatory hurdles.
Industry leaders spoke about the need for regulatory reform, more regional diversification, and better community engagement to keep pace with demand for AI infrastructure. Many also emphasized the potential of rural hyperscale builds to reduce costs and boost local economies. Despite challenges, there’s a clear drive to double capacity in Europe by 2027.
As demand for digital infrastructure accelerates, the sector’s ability to grow responsibly will rely on strong leadership, aligned teams, safe delivery, and consistent performance across regions and partners. In Cannes, Sandra and Michael’s conversations highlighted the critical importance of aligning diverse teams, building trust with local communities, and maintaining the highest safety standards while meeting ambitious capacity targets.
At JMJ, we’re proud to support organizations navigating this evolving landscape—helping to build the leadership, culture, leadership and collaboration necessary to deliver high-performance, safe, and reliable data center projects.
