Did you attend ASSP 2025? What were your standout moments?

With thousands of professionals gathered to explore the future of occupational safety and health, this year’s ASSP Safety Conference delivered fresh insight, powerful networking, and practical innovations. Jennifer McKeon attended on behalf of JMJ, and these are her reflections on the sessions, trends, and standout experiences that could influence how organizations approach safety, culture, and performance.

Rich learning and relevance to client work

Jennifer found the educational content at ASSP 2025 to be particularly strong. The sessions provided actionable insights and served as useful conversation starters, especially when engaging clients around their evolving safety challenges.

Standout sessions and practical trends

Jennifer noted a broad mix of topics, from traumatic brain injuries and advances in head protection to military safety innovations and psychological safety. Sessions were organized by experience level, helping attendees tailor their learning. The conference app was a valuable tool, making it easy to revisit session materials, with around 85% of decks available to download.

Audience engagement and exhibit activity

Session sizes varied, from intimate discussions with 60 people to popular talks with over 400 attendees. The exhibit hall stayed lively throughout, thanks to engaging experiences like climbing gear demos and fire safety simulations. Tactics like LinkedIn photo booths also helped sustain foot traffic and build connections

Sponsorships that added real value

From Jennifer’s perspective, short, sharp “flash sessions” (15-minute sponsor-led presentations) were especially effective and more engaging than traditional booth-based pitches. Sponsors that offered hands-on or value-added experiences seemed to connect more meaningfully with attendees.
