Kazakhstan-based JMJ Senior Consultant Rinat Salimgaliyev joined theInternational Labour Organization’s Keep Yourself Safe podcast to discuss Safety Culture: Modern Trends and National Specifics with Marat Imash of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan and Diana Kazbekova of the Research Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
The discussion explored what safety culture really means in practice. Rather than focusing only on rules and inspections, the speakers examined how leadership behavior, workforce engagement and shared values shape everyday decisions at work.
Rinat shared practical project experience illustrating how small everyday actions, and missed opportunities to act, often determine whether risks escalate into incidents. The panel agreed that sustainable safety culture develops over time through trust, participation and continuous learning across industry, government and workforce stakeholders.
