LNG Canada module fabrication capital project success
Major capital project, LNG Canada, achieved project success as teams worked to create a culture of excellence, setting new benchmarks in the industry.
The LNG Canada module fabrication capital project took place between 2019 and 2023, influenced by JMJ’s High-Performance and safety approach. From steel cutting to load out of the last module, frontline workers and project leaders demonstrated their unwavering commitment to safety and performance excellence through development and skills-building workshops, training seminars, safety days, inspections, team-building exercises and yard coaching.
As a result, the capital project achieved remarkable milestones, including surpassing 30 million worker hours without a lost time incident (LTI) in 2022. The yard received Shell Upstream’s Golden Hard Hat Award which recognizes teams who go above and beyond to promote a culture of high-performance. In addition, yard leadership and frontline workers were recognized for their outstanding risk elimination through novel non-backing gas (NBG) welding. This innovative approach successfully drove ‘Goal Zero’ performance by eliminating the risk of asphyxiation associated with two-million hazardous working hours. At the same time, the LNG Canada Team was able to successfully control weld rejection rates to world class low levels.
