Don has over 35 years of business and industrial experience, including roles in process operations (Shell), process design and project management (British Nuclear Fuels), safety engineering (Total E&P), insurance (CIGNA International), HSSE (e.g., Amersham plc), and safety and sustainability consulting (ERM). He initially joined JMJ as Sustainability Advisor and has since progressed to lead the Technical Services offering.  

Before JMJ, Don was a managing partner and member of the senior leadership team at ERM, where he was the global sector leader for oil & gas and then the global practice leader for safety & risk. Earlier in his career, he held Group HSE Leader roles at three FTSE 50 multinational companies, including Group SVP for HSSE & Asset Integrity at BG Group.  

Don is also a former business school dean and Professor of Risk Management at Brunel University and previously served as vice chair of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).  

Currently, he is chairman of LondonEnergy Ltd. and is the EnQuest Professor of Sustainability at the University of Bradford School of Management. He is a chartered chemical engineer with a PhD in Risk Management from the University of Manchester and a Master’s in Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge.
